Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

How much does a sliding glass door installation cost in the Bay Area?
A standard two-panel sliding glass door installation in Contra Costa or Alameda County typically ranges from $3,500 to $8,500 installed, including premium-brand product, labor, and disposal. Multi-slide and pocket-door systems range from $9,000 to $35,000+ depending on size, glass specification (dual-pane vs. triple-pane, low-E coatings, laminated for sound), and frame material (aluminum, fiberglass, wood-clad). Every Horizon estimate is itemized so you see exactly what you're paying for.
How long does a typical installation take?
Most standard sliding-door installations are completed in one day. Multi-slide systems and installations requiring structural modification (header changes, framing) typically take two to four days. Whole-home window replacement projects (10+ openings) usually take three to five days. Horizon provides exact timelines during the free in-home estimate.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Horizon holds the appropriate California contractor licensing for door and window installation, carries $2M general liability insurance, and is fully workers' comp insured. License and insurance certificates are provided with every estimate — and you can verify our license directly with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB).
What brands do you install?
Horizon is an authorized installer for premium brands including Marvin, Andersen, Pella, Western Window Systems, LaCantina, Fleetwood, Milgard, and Jeld-Wen. We can also work with custom local fabricators for historic restorations or oversized openings. Brand selection happens during the estimate based on your home, climate exposure, budget, and aesthetic preferences.
Do I need a permit for door or window replacement?
In Contra Costa and Alameda County, like-for-like window or door replacements typically do not require a permit. Permits are required when you change the size of the opening, modify structural framing, or add a new opening (for example, converting a window to a sliding door). Horizon handles all permit applications and inspections as part of our service when permits apply.
What's the warranty on your installations?
Horizon backs every installation with a 10-year labor warranty. Product warranties are passed through from the manufacturer (most premium brands offer 10–20-year glass and frame warranties). If anything goes wrong with the install — a leak, an alignment issue, hardware failure — we come back and make it right at no charge for the first 10 years.
Can you replace a sliding door with French doors (or vice versa)?
Yes — this is one of our most common projects. Converting between door types may require structural changes to the rough opening (especially when going from a smaller window to a wider door, or from French to multi-slide). Horizon includes any required framing, drywall repair, exterior finish patching, and permit-pulling in our quotes so you have one all-in price.
Do you serve all of Contra Costa and Alameda County?
Yes. Horizon serves the entire East Bay: Walnut Creek, Concord, Danville, San Ramon, Pleasant Hill, Lafayette, Martinez, Pittsburg, Antioch, Brentwood, Berkeley, Oakland, Fremont, Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, Hayward, San Leandro, Alameda, Union City, and every community in between.
